The District

The 17th State Representative District of Illinois is located in the Northern suburbs of Chicago and includes all or parts of the communities of Evanston, Glenview, Golf, Morton Grove, Northbrook, Northfield, Skokie, Wilmette, and Winnetka.

The 17th District is home to some of our nation's predominant business leaders, including Kraft Foods and Crate & Barrel. The new Illinois Science + Technology Park in Skokie, which will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research, development, and production, is located in the immediate surroundings.

Our district is home to the renowned Evanston, Glenbrook, New Trier, and Niles High School districts, as well as the Loyola Academy and Rush North Shore Medical Center.

We are privileged to live in an extremely diverse district, with large and active communities of East and South Asians, European immigrants, and Assyrian and Greek Americans, as well as Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Moreover, the 17th District is overwhelmingly Democratic, casting 59% of its Presidential votes for John Kerry in 2004, and over 70% of its primary ballots for Democrats in March of 2006. We deserve the strong progressive leadership that Democrat Daniel Biss will provide.
